Guillelmus de Marreclea and his wife Beatrix, with the consent of his father Guillelmus Rainuardi and his brothers Rainuardus and Raimundus, sells Gibertus Hospitalis magister and all the brothers of the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem a castle [castellum] called Eixserc and the vallis de Luchen, together with a casale called Nubia, situated in territorio Tortosano, for 1400 besants and a further sum of 60 besants which Gibertus has given Beatrix. Guillelmus and Beatrix wish this sale to be treated as if it was an eleemosynary gift. Witnesses: -Oliverius de Nephin; Gasto de Nephin; Bertrannus de Insula; Petrus Gombaldus. Raymond III comes Tripolitanus makes a sealed eleemosynary grant to the Hospital, confirming the sale, but adding that the casale of Nubia must remain a fief owing service [in feodo et servitio suo]. Witnesses: Hugo Sine Censu; Petrus Girardus; Petrus de Sujura. The sale is delivered to the following brothers of the Hospital: Raimundus de Tiberiade; Ernaldus Lombardus; Eschifardus; Nicolaus; Audinus; Raginaldus Arbalestier.

Amalric, per dei gratiam in sancta civitate Iherusalem Latinorum rex quintus, confirms under seal the sale to the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem by Arnulfus de Curbinhi of houses that are situated between the city wall of Acre and the sea for 1000 besants, from which Arnulfus has made an eleemosynary grant to the Hospital of 200 besants. Witnesses: Galterius princeps totius Galilee; Hugo de Cesarea; Gormundus de Tiberiade; Guillelmus marescalcus; Guido de Maneriis; Hubertus de Acohn; Petrus Nemausensis; Johannes Guido; Viuianus. text: Dec. 25 1165 - Apr. 29 1166. [106] Hugo dominus Cesaree Palestine, with the agreement of his wife Isabella and his homines, makes an eleemosynary grant to the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem, represented by Girbertus prior Hospitalis magister. He gives a casale called Hadedun and 2 guastinae. The boundaries are as follows: to the west dunae….. of dominus Hugo Feustellus; to the north the land stretches as far as the river [flumaria] by way of an old berchile and ends [at] S. Michaelis… casale…of Engelbertus; to the east the boundary ends, by way of a bechile, with the casale of the [canons of the] Templum Domini; to the south by way of the turon Bufali it ends….with the land of Seraphia belonging to the archbishop, as far as a large lake [lacus]. Hugo adds to his gift a curtile that had belonged to Urricus Tendilla and the salt pans [salina] of Gervasius, with as much land as is needed to produce salt fully and to build houses for colonists [incolae]. In return for Hadedun he receives from the Hospital 2000 besants in charity. Petrus Perrez, his wife Maria and his children Paganus and Mathalia surrender the casale of Hadedun, in exchange for a rent [assisia] given by Hugo de Cesarea, and confirm the grant. In the [burgess] curia of King Amalric, Hodeardis, widow of Oto de Verduno, with the agreement of her sons Henricus and Guido and her daughters Isabella, the wife of Iohannes Aschetinus, and Benedicta, the wife of Ioffridus filius Simonis iudicis, and also Iasza, the wife of Henricus Balistarius, makes a sale, masked as an eleemosynary grant, of a curtile to magister Iosbertus, the poor and the brothers of the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem. The curtile is situated between the public way that leads to Bethlehem and the way that leads to Acheldamach, the lacus Germani and a garden of the Hospital. In return the Hospital gives Hodeardis 760 besants out of charity and receives the whole family into confraternity. Henricus, Guido, Isabella with her husband Iohannes, Benedicta with her husband Ioffridus, and Iasza with her husband Henricus Balistarius guarantee the transfer. King Amalric’s confirmation is itself an eleemosynary grant. Patriarch Albert of Jerusalem confirms under seal an eleemosynary gift made in his presence to the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem by Aalys, the daughter of Turginus and a consoror of the Hospital. She gives 4 carrucate terre with houses in casale Geschale, which Turginus had bought for 1000 besants from King Guy and Queen Sibylla, when they were Joppensis et Ascalonensis comes et comitissa. She delivers the charter of that sale to frater Isembardus Hospitalis magnus preceptor and frater Ricardus Hospitalis thesaurarius. She also leaves the Hospital an eleemosynary gift of 100 besants, to be paid on her death by the sale of a rent [censuales] of 50 besants a year payable to her by Thomas Pisanus for houses he holds of her in the vicus Catene at Acre, situated before the house of Johannes Daht. The houses border on the east the public way [via publica] and on the south the house of the daughter of Joannes Daht. On the north they adjoin the house of Tortosa and on west overlook the sea, called Lordamer. Any surplus from the sale of the rent can be distributed in alms for her soul. The Hospitallers will receive the eleemosynary gift of 100 besants even if Aalys should die intestate.
