text: Before May 31. With the agreement of his wife Gisla and his heirs, Iohannes Fulco records that he has sold 2 houses to Willelmus Baptizatus de Blancagarda for 97 besants. The houses owe rent [census] of 1 besant to the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem. They are divided by a road and are on the eastern side next to the new gate called the Porta de Balcayra. One of the houses adjoins to the east the house of Girardus and on its southern side the wall of the city. The other house adjoins to the north the house of Galterus de Betenuble. Witnesses: Balianus castellanus Ierusalem; Arnulfus de Blancagarda; Robertus Niger; magister Bernardus; Willelmus Beraldus; Willelmus Patrun; Lambertus Patriarcha; Gaufridus Bocherius; Vldricus Baptizatus; Willelmus de Ponz. Thomas Robert, son of Mancel, sells the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem and Master Roger de Molins, represented by frère Nicolas hospitalier, a casale called Beaude for 1500 besants and an annual cense of 200 besants, assigned on houses in Latakia and Antioch. The sale is confirmed by Rainaud seigneur de Margat, from whom the casale is held, and by Prince Bohemond III of Antioch, on condition that the casale will be occupied by frère Nicolas hospitalier and that after his death it will belong to the Order. Bohemond’s confirmation is accompanied by the gift of [a rent of] 200 besants, to be drawn from the commercium [commerce] at Latakia.

Egidii comitissa, is admitted in common chapter by magister R. de Molinis as a consoror of the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem. She chooses to be buried in the Order’s cemetery. She makes a sealed eleemosynary gift to the Hospital and the poor of the casale of Betheras on the plain of Ascalon, which she had bought with all its rights. She imposes the condition that while she remains in the East the Order will give her 500 besants a year, payable on the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. If she should return to the West, the Order will provide her, in place of the 500 besants, with 12 and half marks in unadulterated silver of Troyes weight, payable each Pentecost in the Hospital’s chapter, meeting at Quierzy [Ceresers] or elsewhere. After her death the Order will bury her as a consoror and commemorate her obit every year. With the agreement of his wife Stephania, Nicholaus Manzur has sold for 300 besants to magister Rogerius de Molinis and the brothers of the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem a rent [censuales] of 20 besants, which he has received each year from the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem [represented by dominus] [163] Helanus parmentarius for some land with a vineyard, which is next to the road that goes to Bethlehem, is bordered on the south by the land of Greek nuns and the Armenians of St James, on the east by the old road which goes to the lacus patriarche, on the north by the cemetery of the Holy Sepulchre. It stretches as far as a cistern belonging to Nicholaus. In future the Hospitallers are to hold the land freely. The sale has been confirmed by Nicholaus and Stephania in the curia, in the presence of King Baldwin IV. It is approved by the royal castellan and at the castellan’s orders Robertus de Rancheni, acting for the king in such sales, has accepted 2 besants and 2 solidi.
