text: May 1-5. Acre. With the agreement of domna Ysabella regis Amalrici filia, Henricus comes Trecensium records an agreement made with the Pisans. He concedes to them freedom to enter and leave through the catena of Acre without the payment of any dues [exactio], and all the liberties and possessions they held in Tyre, Acre and Jaffa during the reign of King Amalric, together with the platea that King Baldwin [IV] gave them. If there are other rights described in charters, Henricus will give them their due in his curia when the city of Jerusalem is restored to the Christians. No more than 30 Pisans should be resident in Tyre during the year from 1 May without his permission. The consuls of the Pisans will swear loyalty on behalf of all Pisans coming to the land. If a Pisan holds a burgesia of Henricus, he should surrender it and only hold property as other Pisans do. If a Pisan wishes to hold a burgesia, he should be subject to the same terms as other burgenses [of the kingdom]. With the agreement of his wife Eschiva, Aimery, Dei gratia dominus Cipri, makes a sealed grant to Petrus abbas Dominici Templi and his canons of a curtis in Nicosia, within which is built the chapel [capella] of St Mary, and a prestia built by his late brother King Guy near the river in the direction of casale Vuillelmi de Balma, with 10 carucate terre around the prestia. The Templum Domini can freely send the wheat [bladum] harvested by the canons’ own labour to the land of Jerusalem. In return the abbot has given Aimery a beautiful ruby [rubinus], weighing 2 and a half besants. He adds the following gifts: the right to take a rotula of sugar each day from the sugar press [masarium] in his casale called Fiergio for the needs of the sick in the hospital; in Casale Vmberti and his other casalia in the region of Acre the right to take each year 1 clicha of wheat and 1 clicha of barley from every worked carruca, to be provided by the rustici; 5 carrublae paid by the rustici for every 100 goats wintering in Aimery’s land, and 2 out of the 10 carrublae which Aimery levies for every 10 goats; 3 karrublae provided by the rustici for every carrucata owing Aimery 2 besants. Leon, Dei gratia rex Armeniorum, filius Stephanus et de potenti genere Rupinorum, postquam divina clementia promotus sum ad regalem dignitatem et sublimatus regali corone per manus Romani Imperii, wishes to encourage the Genoese to come to his kingdom. And so he makes a grant, signed in both Armenian and Latin, to Ogerius de Pallo, representing the Genoese. He gives freedom to come and go and sell throughout his land, entering and leaving through his ports. He gives the Genoese and their goods and merchandise safe conduct thoughout his land and those of his barones, so that the Genoese are freed on their purchases and sales from all servitium, drictura, pactum, exactio, angaria tributi vectigalis. Their goods are to be safe in shipwrecks. He gives land in his cities of Sisum, Mamista and Tharsus, so that in each the Genoese may build a church, a fundum, houses and a curia, in which they will have jurisdiction over Genoese, although if a Genoese has a claim against a man of another nationality the case will be decided in the royal curia. The Genoese are held to defend the rights of the king and men [of Cilician Armenia].
