text: †(1101). Antioch. Tancred [Marchisius] gives the church of St Laurence of the Genoese one third of the revenues from goods leaving Solinum by land or sea; a street [ruga] in Antioch which runs from the river bed [torrens] as far as the street [ruga] of the Amalfitans, together with the church of St John, which Bohemond [of Taranto], had already donated, reserving the diocesan rights of the cathedral of St Peter of Antioch; one third of the [revenues] of the port of Latakia, as at Solinum, and similarly a ruga with church, as at Antioch, together with [similar rights in] all ports that the Genoese help to conquer in future. The Genoese, together with merchants from Savona and Noli, will pay no commertium. Tancred promises to deal with any complaints they raise within 30 days. Vuilielmus Carpenter, Ricardus constabilis, Vuilielmus Acatapan, Roglerius de Florenza and Vuilielmus Malconvent accompany Tancred in swearing to abide by the terms of this charter. Signatories: Tancredus; Amicus de Foro. Witnesses: Vuilielmus Carpenter; Ricardus constabilis; Vulielmus Acatapan; Vuilielmus Malconvenent; Oliverus [de Alvei]. Another version is to be found in Ughelli, Italia sacra 4:847-8, in which there appear further witnesses: Tancredus; Anna, notarius de foro patriarchae. Details on the street in Latakia are added, together with privileges in ports the Genoese help conquer and in Gibeletum a fundum in the port and a village [villa] outside. These appear to stem from a purported confirmation by Prince Roger [of Salerno] in the patriarchal palace [Autumn 1112 – June 1119] with the following witnesses: Radulphus dux; Adam conestalle; Toroldus vicecomes; Robertus filius Rostachin; Pontius de Roca Maura; Guaifredus filius Ruinfredi; Amefridus Amiral. text: Oct 1 1102 – Mar. 24 1103. In the reign of Baldwin, rex inclitus et christianissimus regnum Babiloniᶒ atque Asiᶒ disponens, Evremar, who has succeeded to the patriarchate, rules on the prebends of the canons of the church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem. Each canon is to be provided with 150 besants a year. This sum will be received by the cantor, the primicherius or magister scholasticus, the treasurer and sacristan, over and above any other prebend customarily enjoyed by them. King Baldwin has provided the succentor with 150 besants and after the death of Arnulfus archidiaconus, who has been funding the subdeacon with 100 besants a year, the patriarch will provide the same sum for the subdeacon. The patriarch gives the canons 2 altars – the high altar in the choir by which is the patriarchal cathedra, and the parochial altar, immediately behind the Tomb [ad capud Sepulcri], although the church ornaments on the altars will remain the property of the church. All offerings made during Mass, even when celebrated by the patriarch or another bishop, will be enjoyed by the canons. This gift does not apply to offerings made outside the church of the Holy Sepulchre. The patriarch also gives the canons the church of St Peter Major at Jaffa, together with its cemetery and all customs belonging to the metropolitan church. The patriarch grants the canons the privilege of translating clergy to benefices in churches in the kingdom of Jerusalem.
