Patriarch Gerold of Jerusalem, papal legate, informs all the prelates in the provinces of Antioch and Jerusalem that on the orders of the pope he has imposed the sentences of excommunication, suspension and interdict on the count of Tripoli, his supporters and lands, on account of his treatment of the brothers of the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem.

Albanes canonicus Nicosiensis, E., Nicosiensis archiepiscopus, T., Nimociensis episcopus and R., Famagustanus episcopus, and their chapters and procurators, together with procurators representing the king and queen and others, Patriarch Gerold of Jerusalem, the papal legate, issues a general letter. After repeating Pope Gregory IX’s letter [4 August 1228], he declares that the opposition of the crown of Cyprus to the agreements between the crown, nobles and church of Cyprus [of 1220 and 1228] and its further appeals are inadmissible and records that he has ordered the implementation of the agreements on the payment of tithes.
