text: Apr. 21-30. Acre. Mindful of his fidelity and of the services Conradus de Hoenloc has rendered, Frederick, dei gratia Romanorum imperator semper augustus, Ierusalem et Sicilie rex, makes the sealed grant to Conradus and his legitimate heirs of a fief-rent of 6000 Saracen besants in assisiam, assigned each year on the revenues of the cathena in Acre or on the revenues of the funda in Acre should the cathena fail, or on other city revenues in Acre if both should fail, payable each year in 4 3-monthly instalments of 1500 besants. Conradus becomes Frederick’s vassal [homo], owing service of the body and a further 9 milites. Frederick adds that when the rest of the kingdom of Jerusalem is retaken from the Sarraceni, or when provision can be made from the royal domain [demanium], Conradus and his heirs ought to receive a further 6000 Saracen besants and will be held to provide the royal curia with the service of a further 5 milites. Witnesses: Balyanus domnus Sydonis; Oddo de Montebelyardo comestabulus; Iohannes de Ybelino; Guarnerius Alemanus; Aymo nepos eius; Aymarus nepos fratris Aymari de domo Hospitalis sancti Iohannis; and others.
