Pope Paschal II confirms for Hvgo abbas and the abbey of St Mary of the Valley of Jehoshaphat all the gifts made by Godfrey [dux] and Baldwin [Ierosolimitanus rex] and others, and whatever the abbey will receive through the concessions of pontiffs, the liberality of princes and the oblations of the faithful. It will pay no tithes on the products of its own labour. It is free of episcopal procurations in Jerusalem. It can enjoy revenues from infidel peasants [rustici infideles]. Anyone can be buried in its cemetery. It can receive alms on behalf of those who die. It can enjoy parochial rights in its parishes. It can have relations with excommunicates. It is to be secure in its possesions and rights, saving its canonical subjection to the Church of Jerusalem.

With the approval of Patriarch Arnulf and the barones of the kingdom, Baldwin, dei gratia Latinitatis Iherosolimorum rex, makes an eleemosynary grant, confirming the abbey of St Mary of the Valley of Jehoshaphat together with abbas Hugo in all its lands [in the city of Jerusalem]; and the pool of Siloam and the houses and gardens it has within the walls of Jerusalem. Baldwin confirms its possession of 4 carrucae of land at Jaffa and 2 carrucae at Acre and a casale called Aschar near Nablus. He also confirms the gifts made by others.
