text: Nov. 1-30. Thomaxinus Foscarini, sent as emissary by Doge Pietro Ziani, negotiates further privileges with the sultan of Aleppo, adding to those agreed on 12 September. The Venetian demands for a fontega, church and court in the port of Latakia are refused, because an emir now owns Latakia independently, but the sultan promises to ask the emir to give the Venetians security. [In Latakia] the payments on merchandise are reduced to 3 per cent on sales and purchases. In the event of the death of Venetians in Aleppan territory their goods will be administered by the sultan according to instructions from the doge and the [Venetian] baillo of Acre. The privilege of 8 October from the lord of Sahyun is incorporated.
