He confirms the freedom [franchisia] of the citizens of Marseille in Acre and their ruga, the bounds of which have been established by ansiani homines terre, domnus Clerebaldus de Molinis, Adam Coste, Helyas de Nazareth, Tomas de Sancti Abraham and Ysaac de Ierusalem. The ruga, which is a burgesia, runs from the church of St Demetrius to the volta scura that belonged to Marinus de Gadere and overlooks 2 rugae, and extends further, close to the katena. Because his daughter Ysabella is going to marry the emperor, who will ratify all rights, John confirms the possession of the ruga by the citizens of Marseille. The king acquires houses, a garden and all the land that St Mary of the Valley of Jehoshaphat had in Tyre near the Sidon Gate [porta Sydoniensis] and next to the new castle which the king has begun to build and for which the land is needed. In the return the abbey is granted an annual rent of 30 Saracen besants, drawn from the piscaria of Tyre. Any shortfall will be made up from other royal rents in Tyre. Garnerus also gave a garden, bordering on the south the threshing floors [areae] of Tarsia. In that land there is a corner of wasteland and on the western side is a mulberry tree [morus] and a field called Migramme.
