text: Sept. 29. With the agreement of his wife Eschiva, Aimery, Dei gratia dominus Cipri, makes a sealed grant to Petrus abbas Dominici Templi and his canons of a curtis in Nicosia, within which is built the chapel [capella] of St Mary, and a prestia built by his late brother King Guy near the river in the direction of casale Vuillelmi de Balma, with 10 carucate terre around the prestia. The Templum Domini can freely send the wheat [bladum] harvested by the canons’ own labour to the land of Jerusalem. In return the abbot has given Aimery a beautiful ruby [rubinus], weighing 2 and a half besants. In honour of the western Emperor Henry VI and at the request of Samarus Tranensis archiepiscopus, who brought the grant of the kingdom of Cyprus with the sceptre, Aimery [in the text Guy de Luczignano] Dei gratia rex Cipri, makes a sealed grant to the citizens of Trani, giving them freedom to come and go, import and export merchandise and buy and sell in Cyprus without the payment of any commercium. Aimery, Dei gratia rex Cipri et regni Jerosolymitani comestabulus, makes a sealed grant to Joscius Tyrensis archiepiscopus, giving him the casale in Cyprus called Levadi/Livardi/Livadi for his lifetime with all its rights and villani, as were previously held by Minas turcopulus. He gives the archbishop the right to all the produce and the freedom to export it without any exaction. After the death of Joscius the casale will pass to his nephew Simon and after Simon’s death to the church of Tyre. Witnesses: Aimericus de Rivet senescalcus Cipri; Remerius de Biblio; Reinaldus de Suessione; Adam de Antiochia; Guillelmus de Balma; Rolandus de Balma frater eius; Helias de Robore; Simon de Papho; Balduinus Usserius. With the agreement of his wife domna Ysabella regis Amalrici filia, Aimery, per dei gratiam rex Ierusalem nonus et rex Cipri, records under seal that he has sold the Hospital of St Mary of the Germans a casale in the region of Acre called Aguille with its villani and gastinae for 3000 Saracen besants. He adds the following gifts: the right to take a rotula of sugar each day from the sugar press [masarium] in his casale called Fiergio for the needs of the sick in the hospital; in Casale Vmberti and his other casalia in the region of Acre the right to take each year 1 clicha of wheat and 1 clicha of barley from every worked carruca, to be provided by the rustici; 5 carrublae paid by the rustici for every 100 goats wintering in Aimery’s land, and 2 out of the 10 carrublae which Aimery levies for every 10 goats; 3 karrublae provided by the rustici for every carrucata owing Aimery 2 besants. Aimery confirms the eleemosynary gifts and old freedom [francisia] granted to the hospital in Cyprus by King Amalric.
