Responding to a complaint from the prince-count of Antioch-Tripoli, Pope Gregory IX orders the archbishop of Tyre and the bishops of Sidon and Beirut to compel the magister and brothers of the Knights Templar and the magister and brothers of the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem to withdraw from defensive alliances they have made against the prince-count with the Assassins [Asisini], who had killed the prince-count’s brother Raymond, the bajulus principis in Antiochia and many others.
