text: Apr. 7. Viterbo. Pope Gregory IX orders the archbishops of Nicosia and Nazareth to absolve the archbishop of Caesarea from the sentence of excommunication, imposed by the archbishop of Ravenna, the papal legate, and now relaxed, on the pope’s command, by Rai., the papal chaplain and penitentiary, because the archbishop of Caesarea, appealing to the Holy See, had sworn that he would obey papal orders if the sentence had been imposed reasonably.
